We are GO for launch!

Last week I got to experience something few people do. I got to view the launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor from the Kennedy Space Center. I am lucky enough to have a friend who works at Kennedy as the office manager for one of the engineering firms and she was lucky enough to get a car pass to view the launch.

This was the culmination of a month-long wait with fuel tank issues and weather delays causing 5 attempts before finally launchinig on the 15th of July. AND I WAS THERE!!!

It was my third trip out to catch the launch and I just KNEW that it was the day. Everything came together perfectly and, once we got to KSC, we were issued an upgraded pass to view the launch even closer than before. In fact, we got to view it from where the VIPs and the media watch.

It honestly wasn’t as loud as I had imagined it would be and being so close, it was over far too soon, but it was something that I’ll never forget and I am so grateful that I was able to experience it.

This is the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building). It houses the Space shuttles and it’s ginormous. Normally you don’t get this close to it. I guess it pays to have friends in high places!

My job offers me a lot of amusement at the expense of others. Sometimes I consider it a chore and other times I think of it more as a perk. Most days are split between my hysterical laughter and my wanting to smash my head through the computer screen.

Also, the idiomatic expression “not afraid to get your hands dirty” generally connotes shady or illegal activity. As such, it is not really a compliment in this context.

This is in reply to a gentleman who wrote 40 identical posts on his blog about 40 different companies and how their parking lots were clean and full of cars and their sales staff were not afraid to, you guessed it, get their hands dirty. Everyone from Coca-cola to KMart.

Today I’m driving home from work and I get behind this car that is clearly VERY proud of their right-wing heritage. And it made me really angry. Not that I have anything against conservatives or Republicans or Christians or Pro-Lifers in general. I say live and let live. You can believe what you want. Who am I to judge?

However, what I do have a problem with…a BIG problem with is people tying to foist their beliefs on others. Why do I have to believe what you believe? Why are you so sure that your way is the only way? What makes you so sure that you’re right?

That kind of attitude screams ignorance and intolerance to me. As does this kind of blatant display. So, I thought about ramming into the back of her car just for the Hell of it.

I got this to my inbox today and was so disturbed by it, I wanted to be sure to share it with you all. Apparently, those pesky Germans are cloning regular people and RUINING their Christian reputations by sending the clones out to earn a living in Hollywood.

I would like inform you that Scarlett Johansson ?actress? actually is a clone from original person Scarlett Galabekian last name, who has nothing with acting career, surname Galabekian, because of adoption happened in 1992.

Clones was created illegally by using stolen biological material. Original person is very nice (not d**n sexy),most important - CHRISTIAN young lady! I’ll tell you more,those clones (it’s not only one) made in GERMANY - world leader manufacturer of humans clones, it is in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Rhineland-Palatinate, Mr. Helmut Kohl home town.

You can not even imaging the scale of the cloning activity. But warning! Helmut Kohl clone staff strictly controlling all their clones (at least they trying) spreading around the world, they are very accurate with that, some of them are still NAZI type disciplined and mind controlled clones, so be careful get close with clones you will be controlled as well.

Original person is not happy with those movies, images, video, rumors and etc. spreading on media in that way it would be really nice if we all will try slow down that ”actress” career development, original Scarlett will really appreciated that.

Please remember that original Scarlett’s family did not authorize any activity with stolen biological materials, no matter what form it was created in it was stolen and it is stolen. It all need to be delivered to authorize personals control in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Original Scarlett never was engaged, by the way! Her close friend Serge G.

Crazy Punching Weasel Running Loose

So, I open the mail today and in it is a card from my Mother (typical Mom stuff, picture of a cat reading a book). She has enclosed a few clippings from the police “Roundup” of The Chronicle Telegram to let me know how lucky I am NOT to live in Ohio anymore.

This one is my favorite:

“Serial Puncher Strikes at Lorain Bar”

A small-in stature man with a history of randomly punching people in bars and then fleeing, allegedly struck again Thursday.

The man, known only as “Weasel,” allegedly entered Shots bar and said, “What’s up?” to a much taller gentleman at the counter.

Not wanting to seem unfriendly, the man replied, “What’s up,” but Weasel only responded the same way. After the third time the phrase was repeated by both men, Weasel allegedly punched the man in the right eye.

The victim told police he was so shocked at the assult because he was so much larger than Weasel and took a moment to comprehend what had just happened. Once he realized he’d just been srtuck he went to grab at Weasel, but Weasel ran out of the bar.

The man at the bar told police that Weasel was recently arrested for the same thing at another bar and has a history of punching people then fleeing.

Police investigating attempted to learn the real identity of Weasel but were unable to because so many people in Lorain have that nickname according to a report of the incident.

There’s actually a few lessons to take away from this. First, if you ever find yourself in Lorain, Ohio, turn around and get the Hell out.

Second, the writers at the Chronicle have the purple prose down cold.

And finally, Weasels can’t be trusted.

Bok Tower, Lake Wales Florida

Ok, so I tend to get a bit carried away with things. A bit too excited, a bit too annoyed, a bit too dramatic all around. So, I don’t want that to color what I have to tell you and that is that I’m pretty certan that the Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida is one of the most peacefully beautiful places I have even been. So, for all intents and purposes, it would not be unreasonsable for me to assume that it was, in fact, one of the loveliest spots in the Universe.

It was a beautiful, breezy fall day in Florida with plenty of sunshine and I really can’t describe the sensation of walking through a wooded park full of ferns, palms, live Oaks and flowering trees and hearing the carillon begin to play.

What? Oh, I forgot to mention the carillon. Bok Tower is actually a carillon tower or bell tower that plays concerts several times troughout the day. Around the tower are many little alcoves and benches where you can pause and watch the koi or the swans or the groves below as you are serenaded by chimes.

I’m sure that there are many other amazng things to discover at Bok Tower ( I always seem to miss the house tour), but you’ll just have to find them out for yourselves.

There were actually giant spiders EVERYWHERE which was difficult for me to come to terms with (spiders scare the crap out of me). However, they were higher up in the trees and didn’t really bulid across the walkways (or else maintenence gets rid of them, either way…) SO… I didn’t let the hordes of unusually large arachnids deter what was otherwise an absolutely lovely day.
